death marches on

Chopin death mask Several of the world's greatest classical composers died prematurely. Which begs the question, why would an infinite creator put musical genius into such frail containers? Only to have their works cut short? Are the rest of us expected to learn enough to mimic their greatness? Are they intended to be our creative teachers? After I get into the eternal Paradise it may be worth revisiting some of these questions. But for the time being the only question that really matters is, did I make it?             .

Sunday Bible lesson

The book of Revelation. It starts with an introductory chapter about the subject and who the letter is too. It lets us know that the subject matter is from God handed down to an angel to John. If you read the letter and obey the commands within it, you will be blessed. It lets us know that we'll be Kings and priests to Jesus. And it lets us know that the letter is 2 7 churches and the names of the seven churches. Then the last third of the chapter shows a glorified image of Jesus with seven stars in his hand and seven candlesticks surrounding him. Then the last verse is a summarizing verse that focuses on the Stars, the Angels, the candlesticks, and the churches. In chapters 2 and 3 God gives a verbal report card to each of the seven churches. Two of the churches get a good report. Four of the churches get reprimanded to do better. The last Church gets a scathing reprimand for doing a terrible job. Chapters 4 through 21 have various prophecies and warnings. Chapter 22 is the last...

Toyota engine noise

This Toyota has more engine noise than is desirable. Of course no engine noise is desirable, but here's one attempt at making the engine slightly quieter. This is thick dense rubber doormat. It has been slightly modified to fit the engine compartment. It simply lays on top of the engine. The engine is somewhat quieter in the passenger compartment.  Of course, no matter what happens I will disavow any responsibility for anything. But it works for me.

buying flagship-ish cheap

It isn't clear if this started recently or if it's something that's going on because it's pre-Christmas or if it just happens occasionally and right now it's happening. as a flagship phone ages on the market it generally comes down in price some, but maybe just 20%. In a few cases though, for instance right now, with pixel and Samsung they have specific phones which are two to four year-old designs and have dropped sometimes up to 80%. The downside is they won't be getting many more upgrades if any, and you'll be getting texts and notifications from Android that they want you to buy a new phone, right after you just bought one. But you can ignore all that and just keep on using it. And if you get an $800 phone for 300 bucks that's a pretty good deal. How do you find those deals? Well I look exclusively on Amazon at NEW phones. And pick out an older flagship and then start carefully tracking it every day or two. When you find one that's dropping look...
