Exod.3
- [8] And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey; unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites.
- [17] And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt unto the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, unto a land flowing with milk and honey.
There is a pattern here. God makes it sound like the children of Israel aren't involved in the process. God fails to mention that they are to be a killing machine slaughtering thousands, if not millions, of people. God says that God will do all of this, but never says they will be on an extended vacation in the Caribbean, until the promised land is all clean and shiny.
God doesn't mention they are to behave like a mindless weapon of destruction in God's hand. Destroying all life in the "promised land" without thought or compassion.
God has good reason to kill everyone in Canaan, but why not just call in the death angel?
Leviticus
Previous Chapter
Lev.18
22] Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.
[23]
Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith:
neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is
confusion.
[24] Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:
[25] And the land is defiled: therefore I do visit the iniquity thereof upon it, and the land itself vomiteth out her inhabitants.
Oddly enough, the landed never vomits out the inhabitants. Instead, they remain and end up corrupting God's elite army of priests. Having the land vomit out people conjures up thoughts of a giant volcano that blasts them into outer space.
