my phone history

My first encounter with any telephone was in junior high. I was 13 and had never touched a phone. Eventually the girl answered her phone and went out with me. It was nerve wracking, all that phone technology, and asking a girl out.

Fast forward to my first smart phone, a $50 little 4" LG model. At first it just sat in my pocket, but slowly the browser and camera sucked me in. After about 6 months it was in use about 1 hour a day. That's was a lot.

Next came a Samsung Galaxy S3. It changed my life. The camera was decent, and the phone was capable of doing amazing editing tasks with an app called "quick edit". It has regular expressions, which made it a very simple web page development tool. It was my first real smart phone that did almost everything a computer could do.

Then came a used Samsung Galaxy S7. It lasted 2 weeks and never actually got the SIM activated. The screen seemed dim, and the processor was faster, but really disappointing.

Next was Xiaomi Redmi note 8. It was big, and pretty good, but after 6 months it was glitchy, having to be rebooted weekly.

Then it was a Moto G6. This was a great phone, because it was cheap and reliable. The cameras was fine. It did most of what was asked of it. That lasted about a year.

Now a Pixel 2 XL is in my hand. It is the best phone I've had, but the Galaxy S3 was still tops for that time period back then. The pixel2-xl camera is great. It is fast and very reliable. It runs for weeks without a reboot. The screen is bright 🌞😎. Of course it's not perfect. The is no 3.5mm Jack and no SD card. This is a glaring error on Google's part. The only reason they sold me is that the $950 original price has fallen to about $170 for a new phone.

If the pixel 4 XL comes down under $200 it will be the next phone.

Currently Samsung makes the best phones, but they are expensive and I am cheap.

I really like Motorola phones, but the new older models of Pixel are better and cheaper.

Used, refurbished, renewed phones are not for me. Some claim to have a new battery, but who knows. A used car seems ok, but used phones suck.

spirits

It's becoming evident that the planet is saturated in spirits and, dare I say it, demons. They really are everywhere. If you get an uneasy feeling, you most likely are under attack. They are real, it's not some psychological anomaly or left over distant frustration from your childhood.

pixel 2 xl , 3xl, 4xl

I currently own a pixel 2 XL. At this point it is a 5-year-old design. It still gets pretty good reviews on the internals even for being so old. Apparently some of the progress has kind of slowed down. Processor improvements and even camera improvements are minimal. It took excellent pictures 5 years ago and it still takes excellent pictures today. Having said that the pixel 3 and pixel 4 are starting to come down in price quite a bit. So let's talk about that. The pixel 3 has some improvements but nothing major. The big thing that everybody points out between the pixel 3 and the pixel 2 is the screen. The pixel 2 screen is somewhat faded looking compared to the typical phone. It's still very sharp the colors are still in color and it works just fine, but really it doesn't look like something that used to cost $950. Still that's what they sold it for. So that alone really doesn't make it worth upgrading to pixel 3. The pixel 3 screen is slightly bigger but the pro...

pixel 2 XL camera focus

For almost a year the camera focus has been irritating at times. Especially when taking close up pictures. The camera would focus on stuff that was further away because it took up more of the field of view. Then finally this morning the thought occurred, why not click on what you want in focus and see what happens. And here are the results.   Notice June 13 is out of focus.   By clicking on 13 the focus automatically changes and then take the picture.   I'm hopeful that Jesus will figure out some way to get those Google guys into heaven.    Here is an example of a fantastic picture ruined by focus problems.    Armed with the new knowledge of resetting the focus more fantastic pictures can be produced.
