God

Throughout my life God has been working to bring things about and make things available when needed. A while back my wife and I divorced after 33 years of marriage. Shortly after that she died. Throughout the entire process there were many many things that occurred that just came together. For instance an apartment just happened to be available the same week that it was needed. Then other apartments became available as they were needed. Without looking much. Also my company fired me shortly after her death. But they also insisted that they would pay unemployment benefits. This just happened to coincide with covid-19. So my unemployment benefits were more than normal because of covid. Also medical benefits were made available, which was unexpected. Then my car died and another car was made available at a rock bottom price. It was a great car and did well for over 70,000 miles. There were many other small things that came into play. It's really incredible to see how God does things...

Google's approach to pixel

Pixel 6 click here It looks like Google is mimicking Apple and the iPhone. Looking at Google's advertising, it's all about the coolness Factor and what a fad device it is. There's very little information about hard technical data. It's all about the cool people stuff you can do with it. Tons of it focuses on the camera, which the big phone makers have become completely obsessed with. And now Google has created their own processor, which is probably blazingly fast but there's not any real hard data to prove that. And from my current experience Apple still beats everyone at my browser test. Plus Google claims that one of the major reasons for their own processor is to make the phone more secure. And I don't watch the industry real closely, but I haven't heard of phone hacking being a major problem. We're already encrypting stuff a bunch, and people are doing every kind of financial transaction you can think of over their phone. If there were some secur...

hydrogenated vegetable oils

This explains why most people don't bother understanding stuff. It is probably simple, but humans make it complicated. The point of hydrogenation was to give oil a longer shelf life. If you want the tedious facts read on. Ooh, partially hydrogenation is bad causing trans fats, that are bad. Boring details: Hydrogenation converts liquid vegetable oils into solid or semi-solid fats, such as those present in margarine . Changing the degree of saturation of the fat changes some important physical properties, such as the melting range, which is why liquid oils become semi-solid. Solid or semi-solid fats are preferred for baking because the way the fat mixes with flour produces a more desirable texture in the baked product. Because partially hydrogenated vegetable oils are cheaper than animal fats, they are available in a wide range of consistencies, and have other desirable characteristics (such as increased oxidative stability and longer shelf life ), they are the predomina...
