smart phones in general

With a keyboard and 15 inch screen, a smart phone can replace most home computers. They may already have this, but imagine a laptop that only has a screen and keyboard and a side attachment for a smart phone. The phone is the computer. Throw a mouse in for fun. Do the same with a tablet. So, the smart phone has been more pervasive than any other computer advancement, other than computing itself. It has radically changed human behavior. We communicate more, but more superficially. We call, text, email, navigate, organize, work, handle finances, and almost everything else with the smart phone.

this phone after 1 month

This phone has turned out to be quite reliable. It has had one more episode with the microphone not being available to take videos. But after ending the video and starting over the microphone worked fine. It isn't clear what triggers the bug or what the thing is unhappy about. But other than that it has really been stellar. For instance there is an app that will play the Bible out loud from start to finish. At the same time you can play music in the background. Now I've only done this one time all night long, but most of the other phones I've had will sometimes make it and sometimes not make it all night long. So for this one time it worked great. It played for about 8 hours.  The camera is definitely amazing for a phone. You can't take fantastic telephoto shots with it, but you can take some pretty amazing night shots and just normal point and shoot pictures look fantastic. And surprisingly it does pretty good with macro shots.  All the apps I generally use are workin...

snakes in the wild

Having spent some time in the outdoors, it is reasonably common to encounter wildlife. This encounter was surprising and startled me at how close I came to this wildlife. Near where I live there is a concrete walking path along a river. The walking path is very well traveled, at any time during the day you will pass several other people. But on this fateful day, I was strolling along and looked up to see a 4-ft rattlesnake waiting to cross the sidewalk. It wasn't quite within striking distance, but another thing that was kind of disconcerting was how completely relaxed the snake seemed. Talk about no fear, the thing was not coiled up in any way. It was just all stretched out lazily waiting for me to get by so he could slither across the concrete sidewalk. Now it really isn't clear whether it was a male or female, it just seems like all snakes should be male. Anyway, after carefully giving it a very wide berth, it simply sat there with this little snakey tongue slithering in a...

cat story

So there's this guy. He moves in with this really hot chick. He's got a cat, she's got a cat. They all get along, for a couple of years. They have a couple of rough spots. She moves out. She moves away. He moves into a two story house with a basement. It has lots of room. A year-and-a-half later she moves back to town.  She calls him up. She says I'm living in an apartment where I can't have a cat. Will you keep my cat? He says I have two cats now. But I like your cat so sure bring your cat over. So she brings her cat over. She stays a couple of nights. Then she leaves the cat. About four months later she calls up. She says how's my cat doing? He says your cats doing great. They all get along great. She says I'd like to come over and see my cat. He says sure come on over. She comes over. She stays for a couple of nights. She sees the cat. And she leaves. Don't you just love happy endings ?

companies don't want to know

Have you ever noticed that when you get great service from a company quite often you get an email or some kind of text from them wanting you to rate their service or product? And if you ever get lousy service or you're really unhappy with the product, quite often they don't contact you about it at all. For instance if you cancel some kind of service or policy, you would think they would be all about trying to get in touch with you and find out what the deal is, but I have found quite often just the opposite. These companies kind of deceive themselves into thinking they're doing a great job all the time, or that 99.9% of all their customers are thrilled. And then when profits start lagging and sales start dropping off they have to come up with some kind of market analysis to explain the anomaly. Rather than just admitting they're not doing a good job.                       N          H     ...

Jesus

A warning from Jesus, your Creator: Matthew 7 [ 13 ] Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: [ 14 ] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Blu tooth with ear buds

The pixel Blu tooth connects easily and reliably to earbuds. These earbuds have an app that adjusts them. All this has worked so far. These earbuds were kind of pricey for me, but they sound great and work well. These earbuds were customized for easy ear side recognition.

what's the point ?

Years ago i had a $50 LG smart phone. It was dog slow. The resolution was marginally and the screen was dim. But, it worked. The pixel 2XL is awe inspiring by comparison. It also works.  🌵☀️

so far

This new phone is doing well. It has been reliable and most of the tricks from the moto G6 work on this phone. This phone is fast and has good battery life, so my search for a phone is over, unless the pixel 4XL drops to $160. The 3XL didn't have enough improvements to warrant going to the expense and effort.       🥳🌟   .

planet bummer

Having lived on this planet now for several years it has become obvious that the entire planet is a bummer. No one really wants to live here. It's a bummer. Asteroids are trying to kill you. Bugs are trying to kill you. Animals are trying to kill you. Sharks and alligators are trying to eat you. Viruses and germs are trying to kill you. Volcanoes, earthquakes, hail, lightning, drugs, sex, floods, tornadoes, hurricanes and everything else is trying to kill you. Oh, and don't forget other people are trying to kill you. And believe it or not, God is going to kill you no matter what. Genesis.6 [ 1 ] And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, [ 2 ] That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. [ 3 ] And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.   ...
